Default Aftermarket HU weatherproofing
I have a Sony DSX-S310BTX on its way to put the final touches on my audio upgrades. Was going over the install in my head trying to get a feel for what all I'd need to complete my install and wondered what you guys are using on top of the HU to keep water out should it find its way into the fairing. I know BT sends a sheet of some type of film to cover their HU's. So what are you guys using to weatherproof yours??

I believe that BT offers a "cover" ( hard plastic ) that snaps over the HU ... pretty sure.

Boss makes a plastic shell type cover but I'm it sure if it only fits their units or if it universal.. I think bass pro had them for $20th.. I don't know how good it would look though

The weatherproofing I'm questioning about goes on top of the HU inside the fairing to help keep any water that might drop in out of the radio. A buddy of mine bought his setup from BT and it came with a adhesive backed piece of plastic film that stuck to the top of the HU and acts as a rain guard of sorts.

Yeah I don't think it's anything he sells I think he just includes it with his radios.

most "marine" hu comes with that piece of self adhering plastic. not much, but better than nothing I guess

Yessir that's what my buddy bought from BT was the Sony Marine radio.
