Default BT2180 fitment problem under batwing

As much as I tried can't seem to get the BT2180 to fit under the batwing fairing. It hits on the outer fairing when I try to close. Any suggestions or tips?

What radio? Do you have a CB or xm modules installed? if so they need to be relocated.

I have the HK Stock HU. The CB and XM modules were re-located. The BT amp appears to be hitting the top rib on the HK HU. Do you have to cut that rib off? I also notice the BT2180 is wider (5.25" vs 4.25") and taller (1.8" vs 1.5") than the PBR 300x2 it is replacing.

Here's a pic from another member. Does your setup have the same clearance.

No. I don't think I had that much clearance. I oriented mine 90 degrees from that shown as it was the shorter dimension with the connections on the end of the amp. I had about 1/2" to 9/16" to the back edge of the HU. The top corner of the amp is what is hitting the outer fairing. I estimate I need about another 3/4" for it to work.

This photo is mine, I just installed last week. It sits flush with the edge of the HK HU, I also have the rib down the center, I used a velcro and a rubber gasket sandwich to raise it up about 3/16" so it wouldn't teeter/totter on it. No problem clearing the inside of fairing.

Gnarl, how is that stock HU working out, did you change the color of the rest of your gauges to match the blue backlight on the radio.

Haven't put it in yet. I'm planning on sending it to ICA to get the low level inputs installed. I have blue Dakota Digital gages so I'm hoping it will match up well!

If you want to see how it looks you can just hold it up to the back of your current radio and just plug in the 23 and 35 pin harnesses and switch on to accessory and it will light up the face.
