So back in January I purchased a 4180 amp/7.1 fairing speakers/6.5 speakers for the lowers/Kappa speakers for the tour pack and adapter rings and the VTAudio harness and all the stuff from Harley to add speakers to the lowers.
Been waiting since then for some sort of resolution to the flash issues with Harley or UltraNutz to figure something out. Decided it's time to try and install this stuff and see what happens. Problem is, electrical stuff and me don't always get along.
Wiring diagram from Biketronics has me lost. Installed all the equipment. Ran the VTwinAudio harness from the tourpak to the front fairing. Ran wires from the lowers to the fairing. Now, where do they all belong from there??
I remember Bill saying something about running some speakers in "parallel" and there is a small bag with two wiring harnesses marked "parallel".
Does anyone have a wiring diagram of where all these wires go and connect to each other???
wiring two sets in parallel just means connecting the positive and negative lines for each side (left lower/left pack, right lower/right pack) together, then into the amp channel. it will look sorta like this (pay no attention to the ohm ratings):
Parallel means that the positive on the amp runs to the positive on 2 speakers, the negative will do the same it will run to two speaker. So in other words you have four channels on your amp, each channel can effectively feed two speakers. So you have the possibility to run eight speakers from four channels. In your case the speakers you chose for the tour pack are two ohm speakers which means they have to run on a channel by themselves. So run wires from the rear channels on your amp to the kappas in the rear. On the front you will run your front left channel on your amp to both your fairing speaker and the speaker in your lower on the left side. Your front right channel will feed both right front speakers, fairing and lower right. The reason for parallel is it cuts the ohms in half. So if you have two 4ohm speakers running in parallel on one channel that channel on the amp sees a 2ohm load. Your rear channels on the amp will also see a 2 ohm load because your running a 2ohm speaker all by itself on the rear channels. Hope this helps.
