Default batwing speakers

I ride a 2005 FLHTP. The previous owner put the radio in. The sound is not great and a challenge to hear over the pipe most of the time. Are these just regular old 6.5" speakers? It seems like the stuff sold specifically for bikes is way over priced. You can find a decent set of car audio 6.5" speakers for $59-$99 a pair. Is the bike stuff marked way up, or is there a reason for the increase in price? Why go with hogtunes or some other motorcycle company over a company with a long standing reputation in the audio world? Sorry if this question has been asked already. I tried searching and didnt find much.

A bike is quite different than an enclosed space like a car. You need MORE volume on the open road. I'll tell you many of the so called Harley audio products out there is just great overpriced marketing. Biketronics om the other hand is quite different. The speakers are made by Hybrid Audio (HAT) an audio company in the same category as Focal, JL Audio etc. So what I'm getting at is that most 70.00 car speakers really aren't going to cut it. The suggestions above of Infinity Kappas and the Cerwin Amp is a good budget set up but I wouldn't go any less than that. And yes, whatever you get....you also need an amp.
