Default Do I really need an amp?

So I'm doing the install of HU in the Dead Center fairing I have on my Switchback. Its a Kenwood BT312U and I've got Polk MM651 speakers. I've been told I need an amp too. So, I did look at the Rockford Fosgate Punch 2 channel ( I'm only doing the one set of speakers...)

Do I really need the amp? Some say yes, others say no. Budget is tight for the install too. Rode with guy the other night and he had the Sony HU and 4 speakers on his fairing and he said he has no amp, the HU is the only thing driving all 4 speakers and he said its plenty loud for him. I heard it and it was loud and clear.

Lemme know...

Install it without an amp and see for yourself if it's suitable. You can always add an amp later if you want. Btw, if I was looking for a 2 channel amp I'd be looking at the Cerwin Vega B2, although I had a PBR 300x2 before and liked it.

listen to my friends Haze and Gann... go with the CV B2 - a tad cheaper, more power than the PBR (I had that one as my first amp; have not had the Vega B2 on my bench... yet...).
