Default BT2180 and 7.1s Installed - Questions

Ok, just finished up my installation of the BT2180, 7.1's and a magic box in my 2016 SGS. My first impression is the system sounds way better than stock but I was surprised I was getting some distortion at higher volumes. I checked and rechecked and all wiring looked good. Could this be due to the magic box and/or the flash issue? I have bass/treble control so I lowered the bass to 2 bars below half and the treble is 2 bars above half.

The speakers fit nicely in the supplied brackets but I noticed there is a 1/4 inch gap between the speaker/bracket and the fairing. Should that gap be filled in by foam or other material? Should I put some "batting" around the speakers? Someone on the forum suggested that. Also was getting some rattling on the inside of the fairing. I cleaned up the wiring and put bubble wrap around the magic box and set in the open box area to the left of the HU. Now I get a little rattling from the fairing vent when I increase the volume.

Overall I think it's much better but I guess I was expecting to be able to crank it distortion free. Music is supplied by a thumb drive. Going for a ride and see how it does on the highway.

Thoughts? Advice? Suggestions? Sure wish someone would figure out the flash issue.

Default Marginally better

Back from an extended ride. Overall the system sounds flat. I have bass/treble controls but if I increase the bass, it will distort. At 75-80 down the road, it's only marginally better than stock. Suggestions?

You have the Magic Box and the BT converter before the amp? I think your decreasing your input voltage to the amp too much???
I have the BT amp, Speakers and brackets along with the flash BT recommends installed like they said. I did fill the gap with 5/8 round backer rod...(weatherstrip) and it made a big difference in the sound. Your speakers are moving in their own air if you think about it.
My music source is a iPod with the "treble" increased with the iPod eq setting.
According to BT those speakers need to move so putting and thing like pollyfill around the back of the speaker is not recommended.
I would get rid of the magic box and do the flash per BT and fill the gap between the speaker and fairing.

Let them speakers break in.
Also turn down the bass. Stock flash is way to bass heavy.
I have mine set all the way down, then up 2-3 bars. (Not sure how many bars to the left of center without looking at it)

Like Berry asked, do you have both units hooked up? Might be one to many.

The magic box is plugged into the speaker connectors from the head unit then into the RCA plugs in the amp. Then the speaker wires from the amp run the the 7.1's. I'll take the fairing off later today to verify and also get some weather stripping to fill the speaker gap.

I checked with two dealers here in C. Texas. One told me they wouldn't flash my HU. Only if I had a Boom amp. The other wants $135.

No sorry, but I added it before I mounted the speaker to the bracket, I used round 5/8 foam backer rod which is round foam to fill a gap.
All I did was cut a piece long enough to go around the outside of the speaker opening and wedged it in between the bracket and fairing
and or speaker grill.
Just make sure it will not interfere with the speaker, there is plenty of room. I have the Boom Grills which are thinner than the stock ones
so I had a larger gap.

Thanks for the pic. I'm installing the 7.1's and brackets tomorrow and already have the foam.
