I know its best practice to remove the positive lead from the battery before install the speakers and amp, but its there any prep that needs to be done with respect to the ECM? Remove wires,, fuses, anything?
How about the security system, do I need to do anything upfront to avoid problems?
15 roadglide special. Adding biketronics amp, speakers, and line leveler. Thanks
If the battery is disco'd you need not do anything else,, no electrons running around to jump to the frame accidentally and short something out... they all locked up inside the battery then!
Hey man, do you still have my number? Give a call if you need anything I may be able to help with, glad you're getting it done now! Want a vid when done, and your take on the Line Leveler,, I have not pulled the trigger yet,, because honestly my stuff sounds sweet,, I cant help but worry I'm gonna go backwards! (I'm sure I won't,, LOL... )
Thanks Jim. I do still have your number and appreciate willingness to help if needed. Just waiting on the amp mount to be delivered tomm and I will be ready to work. My old bike (2013 SG) didn't have security, so I wasn't sure how to address it for this install. Last time, I just pulled the battery cables and left fuses alone.
On a bike with security you need to turn ignition on, then off, and disconnect the battery (or pull the maxi-fuse) BEFORE the system arms itself.
If you disconnect the battery when security is armed, you guessed it you will get a piercing earfull...
