Now that I have made my choice I have some questions for those that use the 998.

Will a stubby USB stick fit in the face and allow the little cover to close?

And if not where go you locate the memory stick?

If I go with the BT Retro kit will the splashcover cover a stubby memory stick?

If anyone is using the splashcover how does the display look through it?

What hand control package do you use?

If a second amp with speakers were installed and plugged into the HU would there be a Fade function?

---NOPE. Even the smallest one sticks out a bit.

And if not where go you locate the memory stick?
---You can run USB cord under the tank and either to a bag, or under your seat. I just use a small USB in the front face. No issues.

If I go with the BT Retro kit will the splashcover cover a stubby memory stick?
--- Yes. Plenty of room.

If anyone is using the splashcover how does the display look through it?
--- At night you can still somewhat see thru it. During the day not much. In the rain, none!

What hand control package do you use?
--- They all work. I've tried the BT, Hawgwired, and Metra with it.

If a second amp with speakers were installed and plugged into the HU would there be a Fade function?
---- It has front and rear preamp outputs (RCA's). Connect the second amp to the rear channel.

There is an additional port in the rear with a cable. I routed it to follow my clutch cable and secured it with a zip tie just under the fairing which can not be seen. Easy to get to by sliding it down to remove and replace. Slide it back up out of sight when riding.

If I go with the BT Retro kit will the splashcover cover a stubby memory stick?Yes the BT splash cover will not interfere with th micro / stubby stick.

If anyone is using the splashcover how does the display look through it?
Hard to see in day light but if it's raining it's over cast and easier to see the display. The cover saves the day if it starts raining while you're not riding, just reach into the saddle bag and cover the stereo.

BT

Yes
I really like the 998 with all the options. Check my post where in comparing the Kappa's to the BT7.1pro's. I have the settings and options I finally settled on.

What hand control package do you use?metra. Cost was only reason. Works great!

I have two amps. B2 is on front channel, used y connectors for the pa 3000 totally for rear channel. Front channel on 3000 for lids, rear channel of 3000 for 6x9's in bags.
Hope this helps

Thanks everyone, I appreciate it. You guys are quick!!!

I'll start taking the RF 300x2 and Kappas out tomorrow and put them up for sale.

One more question, how does the BT2180 mount over the HU? Thought I read there's suppose to be a space between the two.

The amp has two adhesive strips on each side. Velcro works a little better. Just stick it the top of the radio. No issues.

Excellent! I used Velcro on the Ultra and always have a reserve.
