I'm so confused . Soundstream says the pn.4.520 is 130 watts rms @ 2ohms x 4 http://soundstream.com/product/pn4-520d/ AAWAV in his sticky post on amp test says the PA RZ4-2000D/ SS PN4.520D tested at 140 watts rms @ 2 ohm x 4 Sonic electronix says it's certified tested by them for 151 watts rms @ 2 ohm x 4 http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...-PN4.520D.html These numbers all seem quite favorable compared to published specs . What do you mean by "farther off the mark than that" as you posted above ? Are these wattages not more than adequate for the Kappas 75 watt rms rating ? I'm just trying to learn here . All help is greatly appreciated .
Some of SS's amp specs are severely out of proportion. The pn4.520 and pn4.1000 will do an excellent job with the Kappas. The SM1000 is not a known amp here but that doesn't mean it won't do a good job. Not always is the case, but typically Marine units tend to underperform.
Should I expect my FM to still work with the PN4.520D or the PN4.1000D ?
Looking through past posts it seems most lose FM with these amps .
Are the Rushmore bike that much better at avoiding FM problems than the earlier bikes ?
I have the PN4.1000D in a 2014 Street Glide, easy install using the J&M amp mount. Someone mentioned that the Rushmore bikes are more likely to keep FM, have no issues on mine although I rarely listen to it.

It's really a crap shoot on the Pre Rushmores. Some lose it and some don't. I had 2 SS amps in mine at one time and didn't lose it. The Rushmore bikes seem to do a lot better job at keeping FM with the Class D amps.
I was running the PN41000 sitting on the nose of my RG right behind the head unit, very minimal FM interference.
The PN41000 and Kappas are a good combo, but it does sound bright. Those speakers are bright to begin with, then add so-so sound chip in the SS amp that seems to lean that way (Bill from Biketronics told me that's the only real component in that amp holding it back). If you're going for dollar-for-sound value, that's an awesome combo though.
Warning: it's a gateway drug system! It will sound great for a while until you want more sound, cleaner sound, then you end up becoming obsessed, it will consume you, you'll sell all your vehicles and open a business focusing on bike audio...er...maybe that's just me. Parents, talk to your kids, tell them "Just say no to audio"...

Does anyone know if I'll lose the CB with the PN4.1000d and the J&M mount ?
All I know for sure is you won't be able to mount the CB in the stock location. I haven't gotten around to it yet but I have the BT speaker brackets and I think I can mount it to the speaker bracket, it's just a matter of finding the time to get it done.
Would it be worth it to use the T400X4ad amp instead ?
Is the sound quality of that amp worth the higher price ?
If you bump the budget for amps, you'll get into several options that will have better sound than the SS amp. The Rockford amp is getting good reviews everywhere I've seen (wish I sold it lol). But again, kicking up the budget puts you in 600.4, 4180, Micro4v2 territory.
However, do I think you'd be unhappy with a SS amp? Nope, you'll still be jamming regardless dude!
If you do decide on going for a better amp, I have the Micro4V2 for a price much less than the T400. It's a small amp too so fitment should not be a problem.
