Default Tuning Help

I recently installed a Powerbass ACA-240.2 amp, Kenwood 998 HU, paired with mm651 speakers I already had. The setup sounds pretty good but the Kenwood has SO many settings I feel like I’m spinning my wheels with all the optimizations available to me.

Does anyone have any pointers on dialing in this setup; perhaps an app to assist in dialing in the equalizer?

Thanks in advance

First, make sure the amp is set to HP and the gain is all the way down. Turn all EQ's off and zero out the trebble and the bass on The Kenwood. Find a song that is consistent to the music you listen to most of the time. Turn the HU up to roughly 75% of you volume range. Now turn the gain up till you hear distortion and then back off about a millimeter.

The best way to tune is to use a O scope or at least a SMD meter. Good luck!!

As far as setting for the Kenwood 998 there are a couple of resent threads that can get you started. One by Blowby and MotoMike has some very good info in this thread.

Great threads....it looks like I'm going to become very familiar with the HU interface!

Yeah, once you get use to the menus it's easy to navigate through them.
Tip: Print out pages 18-21 in the 998 manual. Highlight the changes you make to keep records.
