Default BT4180 issue/troubleshooting

I've had my BT4180 installed in my 2015 SGS for several weeks without issue, then today after a ride the radio won't initialize. It will try to come up to the accept/warning screen, and when hitting accept it promptly goes to the clock/logo (like it's off). Weirdly, the volume hand control registers across the screen (no sound) the info button brings up the temp. EITMs etc. What I've done so far:

Fully charged battery,
Disconnected and reconnected the battery,
It has the latest firmware.

Next I'm pulling the fairing to check wiring and connections, but wonder if anyone else experienced this and has ideas?

Thanks!!

Check your radio connections. Something may have gotten loose when you installed the amp. This sounds like a "radio" problem and not something a 4180 would cause.

I would've done the same preliminary steps. Disconnect ground and see if it re-set the radio.

Don't have it here in front of me, but there's a simple procedure for doing a reset on the radio.... hopefully someone will chime in.

Totally unresponsive, has me stumped. Tried the below procedure, tried reinstalling firmware, nothing. Wondering how to best proceed, pull the amp and head to dealer or leave it installed.

This didn't work:

1. Turn IGN OFF. Wait 15 seconds.
2. Press and hold power/mute button. Turn IGN? to ACC.
3. Continue to press power button for 2 seconds after the WARNING screen is displayed.
4. Release power/mute button and accept warning.
The service menu may display Diag Service not Availiable when a menu option is initially selected. This message will clear once the system has finished performing the power-on process. Options are: DTCs, Audio, Display, Key input, Component menus, Version info, Reset, Touchscreen.
Reset: Pre-calibration reset: Restores fatory default settings. This is recommended when there are radio symptoms and no DTCs*
Post calibration save: Archives customers settings so that they can be restored after a Post calibration Reset.
Post calibration reset: Resets the radio to factory default settings and restores the last archive data stored during Post calibration Save.

My guess is that if you leave it installed, the dealer will basically burn your warranty in front of you.

Now that it's reset, are there any trouble codes?
After check all connections, you will want to disconnect the amp and just run a the speaker direct. This would one of the first troubleshooting steps the dealer would take.

Gah, talk about frustrating. Pulled the amp and ran direct to speakers, and radio still wouldn't initialize beyond the warning. Ride to work. Call and get an appt at dealer for NEXT week. No radio/bluetooth/nav...still.

Get ready to ride home and all of a sudden everything works again. Thoughts? Call Biketronics, reinstall the amp? Go to dealer and see if there are error codes in the history?

Almost ready to ditch the aftermarket and go with HD Boom upgrade, at least then I wouldn't be pulling the amp and wondering if whatever happened to the radio will be covered by the warranty.

If it still wouldn't work with the amp and all other aftermarket stuff removed but then all of a sudden did, l would leave everything out and keep your appointment. You have something going on with the stock stuff.

You can check for error codes (DTC)

Press and HOLD the MUTE button while turning the ignition on with the run switch in the RUN position. Wait until the confirmation message comes up. Confirm and release the MUTE button.
DTCs will be first option highlighted. Select it to see if there are any codes.

Since you have a four channel amp, did you have bike flashed for four speakers for fader? The reason I ask is if you don't have the rear speakers hooked up while you have the BT4180 amp out you will have two DTCs that show up. If you do, scroll to the right and select the "i" (information) and one will be rr (right rear) speaker open and the other will be lr (left rear) speaker open.

Hope this helps

I don't think changing out amps is going to resolve the problem. This sound more like an electrical or HU problem. If you go over to the New "Rushmore" Models forum you will find all kinds of problems with the Infotainment System which have no audio upgrades installed. Leave the amp out for a while and see if the problem reappears.
