hi guys...i just installed a new Sony MEX-M70BT head unit in my '07 Streetglide. This is the third Sony head unit I've had in the bike and have had pretty good luck with all of them. Though I am no expert, I have installed plenty of stereos. Im using a bike tronics kit for the handlebar controls and have an Arc Audio 125.2 mini amp with Hertz speakers. I've never had a problem before...Just finished with this install, and the radio and amp turn on fine, then after a few seconds...maybe thirty?..I dunno...I lose all power to the radio for a few seconds, then it comes back on....It keeps repeating this....any ideas? Thanks for any help....I do not see anything obvious...I'm hoping someone has run into this before..
Run your own ground from the upper inner fairing screw to the biketronics module tied in with the decks ground. See if it still does it. The biketronics module may be going out if not a ground issue. I would also check your constant power and ign power connections at the module to be sure they are bared enough and seated in the push locks well.
i've been running this Biketronics unit since like 2009 when the Harman Kardon radio **** the bed...i'll redo the ground and check connections but i think they are ok...maybe it is the BT unit itself.
Interesting, my Sony 310 and gann's HU matching yours are doing the same thing it sounds like.
Yeah , Yank and I have been troubleshooting this issue offline. I've had several Sony's as well and no problems. This last Sony MEX-M70BT I installed sounds great sitting still in the garage. But going down the road when I hit a bump just right I will lose all sound for a nano second and then it continues to play like normal. I don't have the biketronics unit. I'm running the Hawg wired unit. I don't think it has anything to do with the steering wheel controls.
The last time I had this issue it was with the stock HU and the circuit board ended up being damaged. I've triple checked all my connections and nothing has changed but the HU itself. I'm thinking the HU is defective. I'm gonna get another one and throw in there and see if I have the same issue. You guys keep me posted on what you find out with your issues and I will do likewise.
I love the Sony's but it might be time to switch over to Kenwood or Pioneer if Sony continues to have quality problems and since other guys are having the same problem I definitely think it's the HU. The Kenwood guys aren't having this problem. . .lol

LOL. . . Hell I didn't know you were back in the states man!! WTF! Just ordered the Pioneer DEH-X9600BHS. If it doesn't pan out Kenwood 998 it is! You know I had Kenwood in all of my cars and trucks over the years. I guess I want to try something different. The Sony MEX is giving me the blues right now.
On the Updates: HAZE has sworn me to secrecy! LOL!!
