98 Road King with stock evo motor
I have A Kenwood HU with a B4 in the fairing pushing 4 Kappa 525.i and a RZ4-2000d in the bags pushing 4 Kappa 693.9i.
If I run my bike with the HU cranked up for an extended period my engine light comes on and my tail lights start to blink. It happens more frequently if I have not stored my bike with the battery tender hooked up.
I talked to some of the guys on here when I was putting this setup together and the general consciences was that I would be fine.
Any thoughts? Is my battery week or should I be looking into a better alternator?

I'm running a moto 600.4 and a Rockford t400 with no issues. I did install a new battery for safe measures. Yuasa GYZ32HL. What battery do you currently have?
I know the older bikes have a lower output stator, but that's still not a ton of juice being pulled. The cheapest and easiest thing to try is a new battery.

This is a good point. Stator is a lower output but I would definitely try a bigger battery. The Yuasa I have has a 32 amp hr rating with 500cca. Depending on the stock Harley Battery can be in low to mid 20s for the reserve capacity. Also on the older bike being carb may not help with the lower idle point as well.
It is Injected (first year) but would that make much difference?
Not much really. Doesn't change the issue just didn't do any favors either. FI bikes have tad higher idle and smoother hence the lack of the potato potato sound at idle. An older bike like that first 2 things I would do is #1 battery. #2 check voltage drop on the ground wire to the motor. If the cable is corroded that will cause some issues as well.

Would I unhook the ground wire and check between motor and wire or check with DMM from battery + and the ground point of motor?
