I think it's about time for an alternative GPS solution.
Luckily, I found a dealer willing to do it, without any attitude and free of charge!. AND, it took all of about 5 minutes to do and that included removing the saddlebag and side cover! Needless to say, I know where I'll be buying my future bikes!
Keep searching man and hopefully you'll find a good dealer to help you out!
Success!! I walked into (my NEW dealer's) service department and asked about the flash. "Sure, no problem. It'll take about 10 minutes" was the response. No appointment necessary, but might have to wait a little bit until someone gets free.

Couldn't ask for anything more...
Awesome!
But now you have a more serious problem you are about to face, and my advice to you is, if you want to keep any sanity you might have, stay away, far away, from this forum or you will be bitten by the audio bug!!!
Spoke to my closest dealer this afternoon, as I'm going to change the flash on mine tomorrow, and the service manager said no problem. So we will see tomorrow. Hopefully all goes well.
