Default Winter Audio Upgrade

Every year I have scheduled my upgrades for the year. Because of some good fortune and luck I am way ahead of schedule. Therefore the next thing on my list is an definite audio upgrade.

Let me list what I have now:

Kenwood KDC-X998
BK 7.1s in the fairing
Rockford Fosgate PBR300X4

My current setup is definitely an improvement over the stock HU, stock speakers, and no amp. But I definitely need more. The sound is acceptable but definitely nothing to write home about.

When I bought the bike, it came with a set of never installed lids for 6X9s so I was thinking about adding some.

My first question what would be the best amp to power the 6x9s and the BK 7.1s and fit in my fairing? Is there such an amp? If so what are the recommendations?

Second, what 6x9s would you recommend? I've heard the Infinity Kappas are the way to go but I'm open to suggestions.

My main question is the amp though.

Also I was THINKING about adding a new HU with the slide out touch screen. Any opinions or suggestions on that would be welcomed as well.

Thanks in advance.

The sky is the limit in your situation. Just depends on how much you wanna spend. On a budget of sorts, the SS pn4.1000d and a set of the Pioneer Pro 6x9's in the lids would compliment what you have already.

Right on track with Sbates. It really depends on how much you want to spend. If you want a decent loud system Poineer is a good system. If you want to bump it up a notch or two. Hertz is a good option as well

Okay lets talk about amps for a second. What are several medium to high priced amps that will power the BT 7.1s and 6X9s and is still small enough to fit on top of the HU in the fairing?

One of the first additions I would make would be an amp mount from Bad Azz Bikes. Makes adding and amp an easy job. As far as amps goes it all depends on how confident you are in your ability to dial it in. If you want easy then Biketronics BT4180 is the way to go. If you wanna be able to tune the amp yourself there's several to choose from there too. Arc, Hertz, Diamond and the list goes on. These are all on the higher end of the spectrum. If you want middle of the road from a cost perspective then you have Soundstream, Cerwin Vega and others that have all been well tested here.

You have several options. My personal favorite is the new diamond HXM 800.4. You also can go with the tried and true proven arc moto 600.4. Both price on the high side but very close to each other pricing wise. You can not go wrong with either of these amps. But again that really depends on what your budget range is and where you want to be later on down the road with your audio.

Yea Badd took the words out of my mouth the HXM 800.4 is a great amp. More than enough power. Also would like to add that we offer all brackets to mount anything you need as well.

I'll definitely check it out, thanks for letting me know.

I'm not going to say that cost isn't a concern but I will say that the ability to power the two 7.1s and the 6X9s FULLY trumps cost. My goal is to have 1 amp that will power all four speakers. If I can get that at a somewhat reasonable cost, or even a little more then that is what I want to do.
