hi and thank you for your help
I have a 2014 ultra limited bought a amp already JL 280 watt 4-channel
now looking for speakers for front and rear
not trying to brake the bank or compete for a trophy just a older guy looking for a little more
and also been looking at all these wiring harnesses that are costly for install so if some one can brake it down without using all of them that would be great
thanks to all that answer
gabe
To start out with you will need a line leveler from Biketronics http://www.biketronics.com/bt355-hd-...r-2014-and-up/
If you don't want to purchase the break out harness and dont mind losing the front to rear fader you can use a RCA "y" interconnect from the line leveler to the amp or cut the rear speaker wires and purchase the bt355 universal line leveler.
I would recommend a 4 ohm speaker for better sound quality such as kicker ks41 674 in the front and rear with the amp you have in your description on a budget build.
But there are many other options on speakers depending on how deep your pockets are and what kind of sound you are looking for.
I would avoid cutting into the Rushmore wires bro!!! As BB mentioned, the BT Line Leveler is the way to go for several reasons. Call BT and Mike can explain the logistics and provide options that will suit your needs.
As for the speakers, what is your approx budget for the fairing speaks and also the Tour Pak speaks.
I'm going to warn you, that 280/4 is a cool little amp but powering 4 speakers is going to be a challenge for it to get any high volume of sound. You'd be much better served with the 500/4 if you can return the 280/4.
I'm using a 280/4 bridged and it's kicking out about 180 per channel bridged.
If your stuck on the 280/4, you could run some 2 ohm speakers (it dyno's out at around 120 x 4 @ 2 ohms) but that kinda limits your choices. Maybe the Polk M651's (you'll get close to 100 watts @ 2.7 ohms on the non UM version).
In either case, you'll want to use at least 1 BT 355 Line Leveler. You can run only the front channel into the amp and the amp will split the signal but you will have no fader. If you want the fader option, you'll need both the front and rear Line Levelers.
There are other options to not use the Line levelers, but for ease of use and something that just plain works I'd STRONGLY advise using them.
