Gannicus I'm not sure. I didn't notice an issue before the amp quit working, I only noticed it after I hooked it up to the radio. I didn't have the volume loud, and I noticed it as soon as I started riding. I'm wondering if it went at the same time the amp went? I tried the amp with speakers disconnected to be sure it wasn't a short causing the amp to turn off, but it didn't make a difference. Thinking back I thought I heard a "pop" right before the music stopped. We had a strong cross wind that day, maybe I didn't notice the speaker not working.
I went in the basement and dug out a pair of old Boston Acoustics I had from my car audio days, it works fine, so it's the speaker. I also noticed there is an audible snap noise from the right speaker when I turn on the radio.
Gannicus, I saw you recommend the Polk MM6501, they are components, will the tweeter fit in the grill behind the stock grill cloth? Or will I have to make something up? Any other speaker recommendations? I was never happy with the sound from the PBR and kappas, but guys say they sound much better with the CV B52.
I took out the Kappas and both surrounds were ripped half way around. I went to my two local stereo shops to see what they had. Like usual ,I said I wasn't going to spend too much, but spent more anyway. I bought JL Audio C3-650 convertible components. I was shocked at how loud they play and how clear they sound. I'm very happy with the sound and loudness, at least for now. I'll probably upgrade the radio over the winter.
I'll post a video tomorrow.

It sounds like the right speaker blew when it was connected to the PBR and that caused the PBR to go into protect mode like it is designed to do. What was the gain set to on the PBR at the time?
Bertk I can't even tell you now, I threw the old amp in the garbage. I can tell you I ran it for three yrs, and set it with a mutli meter when I put it in. I had disconnected both speakers and the amp still wouldn't turn on.
I'm very happy with the CW B52 and the JL C3 650's I have in it now. Night and day difference from the old PBR and Kappas.

I was just curious.
Good to see you have some good sound now! Looking forward to the video.
Thanks Gannicus! I'm very surprised at what the amp and just 2 speakers sound like. I had to use a bluetooth adapter in the video, only way I can record and play the music at the same time.
