hey guys. ive posted here before about doing a system on my bike and got great advice .... love the forum ( although i dont post much ). anyway, i love kenwood products. my truck is full kenwood .... speakers, subs and amps are the excelon series. it sounds amazing. super clear with plenty of bass. what im getting at is .... why not the same stuff for the HD ?? im not sure if they make a mini amp to fit in the fairing in the excelon series. just curious what the gurus think. thanks guys, scott
Brotha, the sky is the limit on the speaks u can throw in the HD!!!! Ur ears are all that matters.
Kenwood is a little tuff on a sled due to the low SPL. Like 86-88 on many. Meaning they need more power to get the loud but how much power they can take is bigger question when competing with all of these open air and exhaust factors. The freq range looks pretty good as they should hit the high freqs as well as respectable Mids around 70ish.
If ur ears really like KWs give it a shot bro, as this is how we find these little hidden gems. Just make sure u have an amp that can throw power about 150% above RMS rating.

Firstly, The motorcycle environment is a little different than the auto environment. We deal with exhaust noise and the elements such as wind, rain etc., not saying the kenwood speakers won't hold up with a shower or two but long term they are gonna fail in the field. Secondly, What sounds good in the garage or in a car won't sound the same at 75 mph. You will lose all of your bass at speed. All you will hear is highs and midrange vocals. Kenwood does have a couple amps that will fit in the fairing but I don't know anyone running Kenwood speakers on a bike. I'd stick with the tried and true products that guys are using on this forum and you can't go wrong. Otherwise you'll end up spending unnecessary cash on something you won't be happy with.
