Keep in mind that the gain **** is not the hidden volume ****. The pbrs distortion point is very early so you more than likely wont have the gain past half...You should not be anywhere near half or you will be getting massive distortion from those kappas. You stock head unit will start throwing tis own distortion at roughly 3/4 volume so that's where I would set your gains by. No higher than that.
I think your biggest issue here is that your amp is already on its last leg because of the way you've been running it and pushing it into protect mode. If I were in your shoes I'd leave the dials on the BT-355 set at default and forget about them and adjust your amp gains accordingly.

Actually it sounds great now, never was on it's last leg....LOL. I never said it went to protect mode either. I adjusted the amp gains and was able to move from about 4.75 to almost 7 but it's about the same volume as it was before, just less (or none really) signal distortion. It's nice of you to assume I have totally torched my amp though.

Not assuming anything here. If you were losing volume, as you stated, you were going into protect mode!!!! And for the record, and you can come back and quote me when you fry it, your gains are set too high for that amp at 7. Good day.

Distortion is not protect mode, silence is protect mode. It probably has nothing to do with time and more to do with the song. I thought there may be a heat issue (on the other thread) but looks like it's probably just the signal that the amp was getting.
Either way, it's a $120 amp, I can run it till it stops running and then throw a new one in there.

It's great to see u have all the answers bro (sarcasm), but giving SBates instruction on audio and what distortion is was probably some extremely poor damn judgement.

Good luck!!!
T.
Who knows T, it's possible that he's the only person that's ever used this amp and I have no clue what I'm talking about.
But I do know this....If you've been using this amp for an extended amount of time on a Rushmore bike without a LL, and pushing it hard enough that the volume degraded because the amp was severely overheating time and time again, I can assure you that it doesn't have much life left in it. So leave your gains at 7 and keep on rockin big boy.

I never seen anyone get so worked up over a sub $200 amp. What do you care? Look at the title of this thread...."Biketronics Line Leveler - BT355 - What to Expect? "
Yeah, I like to live on the edge, may turn it up to 11.
