Have you had any issues with heat affecting the speakers you have installed in the lowers? I’m getting ready to do this same project on a 2018 CVO Anniversary.

No issues. Biggest challenge is finding speakers shallow enough to not require a giant spacer

Thanks for the reply guys!!!
How deep of a speaker did you guys fit in your lowers? I don’t mind modifying the inside part where the fan blow through if needed. I’d like to fit Focal 165KRC’s in there if I can

No chance on the KRC. Not without a 1/2" spacer MIN. 2.4" is about as deep as you can get depending on the magnet diameter

Ok thanks so much for your input!
I’ll keep you posted on my progress!! I took your advice and I’m going to paint my lower pods once I’m done all modifications. One quick question where did you run the overflow tubing? Along the inside of the frame?

Just wondering where you bought the Hertz EV 165's at? I already have the HT lowers just hunting for good speakers.
Thank You;
Bill

Just an addition to the thread about fitting speakers in a liquid cooled lower. As previously posted, I managed to slide a Boom Stage I into the lower without any actual internal pod fabrication. When I put my AD Design CX62s in there, I ended up with a ugly half inch plastic spacer ring. I considered doing a fiberglass buildout but it was going to be incredibly costly if someone else did it or super messy and time consuming if I did it so instead I took apart my lowers again and pulled out the piece that had the vent molded into it...the piece that sits against the radiator and in front of the fan. My first intention was to use a heat gun to melt the plastic but black ABS is very unwilling to melt so I grabbed some modeling clay to determine where the magnet was hitting. Drew my lines and slowly cut away the plastic so the speaker could sit flush. I then used tinfoil tape to shape the semicircle cutout. Put 4 layers on inside and out before covering it with dynamat tape. It's surprisingly solid. I also test fit the grill rings/spacer from the ADs and sadly found they also would not sit flush in the speaker pod so I used the barrel sander on the dremel to take off the edge of the speaker base until it also would fit in the countersunk ring of the pods. Here are some pics of the process. It looks fully stock and I'm actually a little bit proud of this.

They are HD speaker lowers for a 2014 Ultra that has to be heavily modified to fit the wethead lower.
