I always test speakers with some Primus Fizzle Fry
I would think whatever your genere of choice is the most important thing is to test several recordings from different recording and mastering mediums. Perhaps pre 80 analog record and master, 85ish to 2000 most likely analog recording and digital master and 2000 up digital for both. My opinion is you get the best all around tuning for 3 tunes of your choice from those eras and you should be golden.
Sober - Tool
Dystopia or Countdown to Extinction - Megadeath
Holy Diver -Dio
Children of the grave - Black Sabbath
I like songs that showcase not only the guitar but bass as well and those tunes/bands do in most of their songs. The ones I listed are some of my favorite. They are the reason I decided to upgrade my system. These tunes would push the stock speakers to their limit. Can't wait to finish my upgrade this week and take some vids featuring some of those tunes.
