Music to test your Stereo
I am curious as to what list of music you listen to when you want to test your stereo system. Setting up a few playlists for some rides later this month and thought it would be cool to see what other songs I may be missing.

get something you are familiar with- the most used music for setting up concert sound systems is steely dan, Lyle Lovett is also used widely.
you are looking for clarity and separation of the voices and instruments.
If listening to skynyrd, you should be able to hear that there are 3 guitar parts, not just one.
Familiarity is the most important thing.

Are you talking for home, car, or bike? If for home, I listen to The Best of Holly Cole. It's jazz. Excellent recording. Her voice should be in the room with you and you should be able to hear fingers plucking the bass and sliding up and down the strings, and the piano keys striking.

A lot of speaker systems falter in the female voice range because most have a crossover built around their frequency range, and in turn it sounds muffled. As with anything, it can only sound as good as the weakest link in the system.
