Need help finding a source for the remote power wire for my amp. I read in one thread that I could use the cigarette lighter. I have a 16 Road Glide Ultra, I installed the cig lighter a while back and just want to make sure this is the preferred way. I don't have (need to purchase) a service manual for this bike. I'm sure there is a head unit wire in the plug that goes into the radio unit but not sure which one. Any help would be appreciated.
There is an accessory power connector under the fairing. It's a purple wire and black wire that goes into a black connector. You will go to your dealer and get an accessory power splitter...splits that accessory power so you can tap into the purple wire.
If you aren't using an in-dash FM antenna you can go directly into the purple but rather than cutting into a stock wire, go get the $4 accessory power splitter and tap into that one. I don't know where it comes out from on a road glide. On a batwing, it's on the brake side up by the gauge. You'll find it now that you know what you're looking for

If u have a HD shop near u they sell a harness that plugs right into a good accessory source. Just tell them what ur trying to do and look at their schematics.
