Does the IPOD Interface Module Require a Special IPOD Cable

Default Does the IPOD Interface Module Require a Special IPOD Cable
My friends pre-rushmore CVO has an issue with the IPOD connector end of the interface cable (where it connects to the IPOD). The connector is damaged, but functional. He would like to replace that section of cable (iPod end to the first connector). Is this cable HD-only or will other off the shelf cables work?
