Default Problem

Hi, I've got the ultra limited biketronics package with the Titan ii's, 4180 amp and bt355's on my ultra 2105.

I've a have a problem.

Crackling from the front left speaker.

I've checked all the connections they seem tight. . I have all the settings on the lineleverers at default. I have a stock HU with the breakout harness.

I swapped the front and rear RCA cables out of the line leverers and the crackling then started in the left rear so it doesn't appear to be wiring from the linelevers to the speakers.

That left speaker will also drop in volume substantially every so often and then come back to full volume, Does this on every trip lately. Crackling wasn't there for the first few months. I've inspected the speakers and they look like new. Should be as they're not that old.

Any Ideas what might be causing it?

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you have done good trouble shooting already. 1 thing we ALL agree on here is that BT has WORLD CLASS cust service. Give them a ring this morning and see what they recommend. I have a few suspicions, but would like to see what they have to say, so please keep the thread updated.

I'm in Australia so not easy with the time difference. What are your suspicions? I'd like to check everything possible and sort it myself before I contact them.

I guess my first thought is a bad output, but exactly why is the question. Some of the others here that are better with the Rushmore stuff will chime in, but I would next try to eliminate any possibility of each component. Ya know, go back to straight audio from the HU to the speakers. Then swap the RCAs around to rule out the LL s and so on. That 4180 is pretty bullet proof, but eliminating one part at a time will help. Hope this helps.

Hosh -

You got any extra 6.5's laying around you can switch out the crackling speaker with? Also what year is your bike? A 2015 or a 2005?

I've changed the speakers out. It crackles on any speaker on the left front output from that LL. I will try straight from the HU It could well be the output out of the HU.

Bike is 2015 ultra

Yes, thanks for asking

I tried the HU straight to speakers and all good.

Then I disconnected every thing and started again. Cranked it up and had the same problem only worse with the left speaker dropping out. Wiggled the breakout harness around and it seems to be in the harness somewhere.

Disconnected the harness and checked all wires. Looks good.

Sprayed every connection with Inox and reconnected. but before this I did a re routed all wiring to set it back closer to the forks.

I've tried it at high volume for some 5 minutes ( which would have started to crackle prior) and seems ok now.

It's the rainy season here so I need to get a day that coincides with work duties to get out there and test it.

At this stage I'm quietly confident the re route and electrical spray on the plugs might have corrected the fault. I'll keep you posted.

BTW I don't think I would ever be satisfied with the HU straight to the Titans after listening through the 4180 amp and LL's

I think I've finally sorted it out and found the problem. I undid a couple of zip ties and loosened the breakout harness up a touch. Seems to have fixed the intermittent disconnection. I feel the harness was packed in and zipped up too tight putting undue stress on the connections. I went for a 2 hr ride and now it seems stable.

I have my fingers crossed that was the only issue.
