i have a JL500 watt 4 Chanel amp. After it plays for a while it cuts off. Any suggestions?
It turns off when its real hot out side

 

A small 12v pancake fan running off the 12v trigger power?

 

will that pancake fit inside a 17 road glide fairing if so where can i purchase one?

 

What are you running off that amp? That amp doesn't get too hot. What size power and ground, where are you grounded too and how did you set your gains?

 

An Amazon search for "small 12v fan" returns many. For example:


40mm is probably shorter then the amp height. There's a 60mm also on the first few results.

 

Please please listen to this man. No question, he will lead you in the correct direction and knows what is going on and has been there and done that.

Yeah - I gotta agree with Haze. Those JL amps don't get hot. Something is causing it to get hot in your set up. If it's cutting off there's a reason. Gain settings? Juice from the battery? Ground? Connections? RCA's? How do you have it mounted to the radio? What size wire are you using? See where I'm going with this? Check all the above and get back to us.

 

dont put a band-aid on a broken leg. figure out why it is overheating

 

8 gauge, for both, ground to battery first the added ground to the bike frame to try and remedy the issue.
