Default Component vs coaxial

So as I am getting ideas for my winter projects I am stuck wondering about the 2 categories. Are compenants that much better than coaxial speakers? I mean is a $200 set of components that much better than a $200 set of coaxials? If so, what is the reason? I have done alot of reading and alot of guys like components or pro audio setups. I will definitely not be going pro audio but wondering if the front stage of my bike would be that much better with components over coaxial speakers I have at this point. Thus far I have kenwood HU, as pn4.520d amp which I will probably upgrade to the pn4.1000d and a set of Polk mm652's. I need a rear speaker at this point so I could swap the Polks to the rear if components up front will be a big improvement over them. Other wise I am thinking pioneer ts-a1686r for the rear. If for under or around $150-$200 I would consider them if improvement is worth it.

I'm not sure at that price point but I can tell you I replaced a $200 set of hertz coaxial with a $350 set of components and the difference was HUGE. I think separating the tweeter allows a much fuller sound. Jmho. I'm sure a pro with pop in and steer you straight

Don't want to spend that much at this point. Maybe down the road. At that difference in price I would expect a big improvement. I guess I'm curious dollar for dollar ( low dollars) which is better.

Dollar for dollar components are normally better.
Most folks choose coax's for the ease of installation and price.

is there a set of components our there that are good for $200 or less with tweeters and crossovers? I don't want to drill holes in my fairing or lose gauges but if I can mount tweeter on grill I'm not against it. I work in a tool shop so if I cant do mods one of my coworkers can

In that example probably not. You'd be comparing some pretty cheap components with some average coaxials.

One big advantage of components is the ability to work around the vehicles mounting locations. On a bike its not as big of a deal as a car where your fancy new coaxials are aiming at your calves - that's a good time to go components. You'll see some guys taking components and mounting them coax-style because the factory location kinda works on the bike.

Basically you have more mounting options, more power options (assuming you can bi-amp your components).

Pro audio/separates takes it even further. You can completely custom tailor your frequency range, power, location, EQ/Crossover/Timing, etc. driver-by-driver.

What bike are you putting them in?

For the $150.00 price the New Polk MM652 coaxial is an outstanding speaker, very efficient, good RMS power handling and will hold up to the weather.

IMO...I doubt you will find a component setup under $200 that meet or exceed all of the Polks attributes.

I can attest that the polk mm652 is a loud speaker and pretty decent for the money.
