What amp? Most will say bike running. A few amps like the Stuff from Arc make the same power at 12-14.5volts so it shouldn't matter in that case. Safer to do it running but for me harder to hear.

Yes bike should be running. I start with the bike off when I'm getting started in the tuning process. I will usually set the gains at a moderate level at about half volume and let everything play for about 20mins for the initial speaker break in. For final tweaking the bike is always running.

I finally got the speakers and amp installed today. I’m using Polk audio mm652 in the fairing,
Cerwin Vega b52 and bt355. I flattened out the bass and treble on the hu,gain on the amp all the way down. The x over is set to flat.I played some tunes low for 20 minutes befor starting any adjustments. I’m setting the gain by ear with out the bike running for now. It turned the volume all the way up, no distortion, turned the volume down to about 2/3rds then turned the gain up till I heard some distortion and backed the gain off till no distortion.

I know the final adj should be done with the bike running. As it is now I’m liking what I hear, but the bass just doesn’t seam to be there unless I turn the bass up a lot and turn the treble down. Any ideas or it is what it is

What is the freq adj for?The manual doesn’t explain much

There is very little bass out of any 6.5 speaker, even when amped. Just the nature of the beast. Bass is acquired from 8" or larger subs and some and I mean just some 6x9's. you can get mid bass from 6.5 but anything under 80-90 hz is almost impossible without distortion.

Speakers, amp bt355 installed, set the gains by ear for now. One thing in noticed is when the HU volume is all the way down O can hear some sound out of the speakers. It's not loud, just some sort of noise. Also when I I turn the ignition to either on or to the accessory position and the turn signals flash, because of the security system, I can hear flashing sound in the speakers that's insink with the flashing turn signals and stops when the flashers stop,
I have the ground wire going to the battery. Can the prob be with the ground hooked to the battery ?

Just under a 1/2 turn. Any help on setting gain , frequency setting, x over flat, HP ,LP pretty much anything on setting up the amp would be greatly appreciated.

If set the gains with the bike not running. It's my understanding that the final setting has to be done with the bike running.

I have to so some more reading on how to set the gains using a meter. Not to sure about that

Having sound when the volume is down had me thinking the gain was too high. If you turn the gain down does the sound go away? Using a dmm is pretty easy and IMO gets you in a safe area to tweak from.Head unit settings flat (middle) and AVC off.Speakers unhooked from the amp.Volume 3 clicks from max ( this is now the max).Gain all the way down.Play a 1000k test tone ( I used MTX website, tons available).Set your meter to measure a/c volts and put it on the speaker leads or terminals on the amp. Slowly adjust the gain until your target voltage is met. It's pretty sensitive Once that's done you can tweak from there but that should be your max. Set your amp to hpf and the frequency at 100hz. Play music your familiar with and tweak it so it sounds good. The lower the hpf the more punch you'll have but also the quicker you'll get distortion so listen carefully and keep in mind 6.5's won't thump like a 12" lol. That should get you close
