Mostly more reasons than I know how to explain but it's basically a buffer zone. If all the music you played were recorded equally then you wouldn't necessarily need it but it keeps you from frying **** up in a pan.

I too am looking for an app for the tone on android. I installed tone generator pro... for the tone generator, should I set it at 80 hz cuz that's where I'm set on the amp? Then on the next tab is noise generator that I can set to the -5db. That sound like I'm doing it right?

Set gain before you apply the crossover.

You set the tone generator at 1000hz @ -5db gain.

If you use a -5 tone don’t you have to turn the gain up higher to achieve the target voltage?
