Speaker Advise
Good morning - the HK head unit on my bike has been cutting out. Instead of replacing it with the factory unit, I have decided to get the JVC KD-X35MBS head unit. Since I am already in the fairing, I would like to replace the speakers too. I have no idea where to start.
Thoughts:
What speakers would you recommend, that meets those requirements? I am an audio rookie. I had looked at the Kicker PS5250 but they are 2 ohm, which I read is good for the HK head unit. Does that mean they would not be good on the JVC?

Thoughts:
- I am looking to stay between $100-$150
- I am not unhappy with the factory speakers, but I would like a bit better clarity and volume.
- I have an install kit on the way that allows me to retain the handlebar control.
- I ride in the rain, a lot. Weatherproof is important.

If you have the 2008 SG in your sig, you will need speaker adaptors for 5.25 to 6.5. These will work.
Also you can upgrade your speaker only but still loose out on great sounds without an amp. I strongly suggest getting an amp for any speaker set up on a bike.
This set up will do you justice. The amp and the speakers at the bottom.
BTW those kappas on the bottom at that page are a good budget upgrade speaker.

Like TG says. There a million treads about speakers only, not one you will find is a successful upgrade, only because your factory head unit is only capable of producing so much power, and it simply is not enough. Links above are tried and true, proven result parts.

Ignorant, new guy question: does the larger speaker sit farther in the fairing or mount outside the fairing?
If if I decided to get the amp, what mounting would I need?
if yo can point me towards a thread, I’d be more than happy to read. I don’t know what to search to get good results. “Amp” or “speakers” bring up a lot of not useful in this case threads.
