Hi all,
after I installed new speakers and amp, I used a non Harding caulk between the outter and inner fairing where I thought water might seep in and get on the amp. Well I got cought in a down pour and a little water got on the amp, right where the power and ground wire attach to the amp. Ofcourse no where else.
what do you use to cover the electronics just in case water gets in the farring? I was thinking about using thin waterproof fabric to cover the amp and more caulk.
Saw some guys on the Facebook groups that are using flexible cutting boards and molding them over the amp then zip tying it in place. I did the same, it turned out pretty good, I was able to cover the amp and the XAV100 with one cover. Of course, I forgot to take a pic of it when done. I was caught in a 3 hour down pour and did not have any issues with the radio or the amp. Hope that helps.

I couldnt find any of the cutting boards, but I did find flexable rubber place mats for tables. They worked good, but will find out how good during the next storm We ge caught in,
I just installed JL600 in my 16 Limited. My concern was for water seeping in around fairing vent. I had some waterproof air filter cover material and used double sided tape to fasten to underside of vent above the area where it could leak.
I just let it drape over amp. Material is highly breathable and waterproof. Easy to flip back to adjust amp.
GLW , let us know how that works out for you. You won't have any issues with the amp getting hot, but I might. Where did you get the material you used?

I used the pre filter material Travelgypsie posted for covering /waterproofing speakers. The company is called Outerwears.
Certianly the design I think could have been better. For $12, figured the fabric couldnt hurt.
Roger that. A good portion of my life has been spent figuring out how to change things the Motor Company did that just didn't work for me. It seems like if you are over 5'10" tall then you are on your own
