I have an aquatic av AQ-MP-5BT-H head unit and I am looking for decent speakers at a somewhat cheap price. I have my eye on a pair of hogtunes gen3 5.25 front speakers, but they are 6 ohms apparently. I have no audio experience so I'm not sure what ohm size for speakers that will work with my head unit. I have a 2001 Electra glide if that helps. Just looking for suggestions and clearification on ohms.
First, what bike and year are you running? Is there an amp in play? Cheap may not give you the sound needed while riding. Those hogtunes you are referring to just don't have a good sound to them and not $$ well spent. Not one person will recommend 5.25 replacements as 6.5 will provide more SQ and is relatively cheap to do with a $12 adaptor. As far as ohms go, most aftermarket are 2-4 ohm which is good with that head unit. Now the ugly news, no setup will be able to provide you sound at 70+ without an amp in play. Just the nature of the wind. If all you are EVER planning to run is 2 speakers the a good 2 channel amp can be had for under $100-125. Lastly, what type of music do you listen to and what do you consider a cheap price?
Well for that budget the old 'tried and true' combo of Infinity Kappa 62IX 6.5" for as little as $115 on Ebay, and Cerwin Vega B52 for ~ $135. Speaker adaters and your set

Yes sir! Or even a power acoustic rz1200 for around $80 and run it bridged.
has anyone run the power acoustic rz1200 with the kappa's? I've heard not all amps play well with with various speakers. I have the kappa's now with the soundstream amp an the amp is starting to cut out after one summer of use...I did a long ride on a hot day an it started an it occasionally does it when it's cool out. I'm either going to get a Cerwin Vega or power acoustic.
I would stay away from HogTunes products. I have taken them out of my bike and two other buddies bikes. They are garbage. I went with the top end 2 speaker Hawg Wired system on my 2012 Streetglide and love it.
