Default Speakers

Okay - I read and I read and I read. I didn't ask questions initially, and I ended up with some speakers that are okay, but not fantastic. They don't have a lot of mid range sound, so I would like to upgrade them.

Has anyone tried the Massive FX6 speakers? They are almost exclusively used by a HD audio company, but it's hard to know if they are really any good.

Here is my setup:
Head Unit: Sony DSX-M55BT
Amp: Soundstream PN4.1000D 1000W 4-Channel Picasso Nano Series Class D Amplifier
Speakers (current): Polk DB652 (6.5 speakers already)

I can get plenty of volume, but I have to pull the low end out of them. I am looking for good all around sound. I'd like to get more mid and low end sound (not subwoofer quality), as the DB652 sound tinny and shallow. I will stick with my current 2 speaker, fairing only setup for now, though I am working on upgrading to a set of lower speaker pods and speakers too. That will not be until winter or next year, so I want to get my 2 speaker setup sounding better.

Thanks for any input!
B

I forgot to mention, I am looking to stay between 100-150, but would be willing to stretch to 200.

Actually those massive speakers don't sound too bad at all. Much better than the Polk DB's! Especially with the SS amp. I had em several years back with the same amp and they sounded pretty damn good.

If u want some damn good bang for your buck speakers try the Rockville RVL6Kit 6.5 Component set. $59 bucks and 90 day return policy which is unprecedented in the audio industry. They even pay for the return shipping.
U just need to mount the tweeters in the grills which is caveman level install shix.

Do they carry good mid range? I don't mind spending money on getting something that fits my needs, but I don't want to keep spending money needlessly. I just want good, well rounded sound that I can crank up and listen on the scoot.

Difficult to ascertain what is going to sound good to your ears bro. Depends on genre of music you listen to. The Massive speakers are well rounded for a coaxial speaker. The components T suggested will probably sound much better. The tiers are coaxial, components and pro audio. Each has pros and cons. For what you’re looking for at this point the coaxials are gonna be your best bet. You should always get the best system your budget will allow. This stuff can get really expensive depending on the level of sound you want.

Yeah... that's the hard part... Everyone's ears are different, and you can't really test speakers before you buy them.

Genre of music is country, rock (papa roach, taproot, disturbed, trapt) and some cheesy hip hop (old school terrible stuff that's catchy and fun to listen to). I do not listen to rap or new hip hop. I meant to include that in my initial post, but forgot.

T - What's the mounting depth on those? Website says 3" and was wondering if that was accurate. I'd be willing to give them a try but don't think they fit in a Road Glide at that depth. Would have to hack up the pod

No clue on the exact mounting depth brother. Sorry.
I dropped them in the King TP Pods that goes on the sled when my dragon and I roll on multiple day trips. They dropped right in and the magnets did not seem to stand out as being oversized.

Worst case, Rockville will pay for the ride back home.
