They sound much better inside the pods in an enclosure. This applies to most pro audio speaker because of the suspension design. Also Id be very curious to see how they are tuned, crossed and EQd.

what about the top end? And where does woofer meet you tweeters? Warmth isnt just how low its crossed. Ill give you an example at some point your woofer meets max excursion and cant go any lower so lets say you raised your crossover to 100 but that allowed you to boost 200hz that gives you more punch could it sound better on the road....possibly.
I bought some PRV Neo 6.5s that are highly reviewed here. They make me gag, how is it that seemingly everyone here loves them? They are loud AF, but sound like listening to a megaphone. Will changing some more of my setup help these sound better?
I haven't sold anything I have bought for this bike yet, but I will need to start letting go of some stuff soon.
Current set up is Boom 6.5, BT LL, JL 400/4, SD250.2, PRV 6.5s, HAT L1PROs, Polk MM692.
On the shelf DD D4.90, RF TMS69, BT479, HAT L6s, DD AW6.5s, AT28s.
I really liked the sound of the HAT L6s and L1PROs, but they don't seem to get great reviews here. The thing they lack is loudness at speed.
Everyone was so pleased with the AWs that I may try them again. Alothough I hurt one of the AT28s so I will have to make do with the HAT tweets, or choose another.
I think I need to give the Polks some more juice as well so I may add the DD D4.90 to them.
I guess there are just a lot of trade offs in this persuit of the unicorn. I'm discouraged but not giving up.
Long term I think I will go with a 6 speaker set up with 10s in the bags, I know at speed it won't produce what i'm looking for but maybe around town I will be closer to the kill.
I apologize for the semi rambling post. I'm trying to include several thoughts in a condensed manner. Thoughts and opinions are appreciated.
Just how much power are you throwing at those prv's?. My thought is, the more power you give them the louder they get but the SQ falls off. I have heard them at just 75w (from a jl amp) and they sound goodbut when I added say 125+ to them they sounded tinny, had to be crossed higher but louder. I think the trade off is getting them loud enough to be heard at speed yet soft enough to have decent SQ. As others have stated running a dsp can help with the tune but specific frequency range speakers that are designed to work as a part of a dynamic setup are very hard to tune properly as a general. At least that is what I am finding out as I dabble into this new chapter for my scooter audio.
Frenchie thank you for posting some screen shots. No knock on you or anyone who helped you out with this, however, this is pretty bad man. I get tons of folks asking me for tips and somehow it always leads to the same type of question what speaker should I use do you like this amp or that one etc. its always product driven when truth is much of it could be fixed if what they had was set up properly.

I may have to dig out the pods. I have them crossed at 80ish now driven by a JL XD400/4. I keep the Boom tone settings flat. Gains about 9 o'clock. I don't have much in the way of tuning right now.

let me guess you can help me out with a custom tune for $199?

No otherwise I wouldve offered.
What im telling for free is that your tune for those speakers is VERY wrong, and instead of spending money on speakers you should focus on fixing your tune. Good luck, nice cheap shot....Im out.
