i'm not downing the JL at all, just a thing to remember with the new SD amps coming with the adjustable crossovers.

I'm a huge fan of JL but when putting their amps on a sled it has to be a very carefully thought out plan in order to properly benefit from 75 watts per channel. Yeah, yeah, it's an efficient amp and all but 75 watts of "efficient" ain't gonna get most sled speakers on the market where they need to be. Unless of course u bridge all that shix but if that's the case, get a SD with adjustable crossovers and its lights out for JL.
Disclaimer. I own 3 JL amps and they are awesome!!!! NONE of them are on a sled though.
Is there any reason for him not to use the Arc with the 4 Polk speakers other than remembering putting speakers in parallel is a no no? It seems to me to be a solid amp with good adjustments that is easy to install. Looking at the specs the Arc seems to be a tiny bit more powerful at four ohms than the SD and it a little bit smaller.
I have run a rf tm400, arc 600, focal sport, sd 1200.4 4 ohm and a stinger 700.4 and a few others that I cant even remember. I am currently running the stinger and like it a lot. Break down: the tm 400 is a solid contender that is warm and easy to tune. It isn't as loud as the other amps. The arc I had seemed sloppy on the adjustments meaning it only went so far on the gains and had a very fine line between not enough and too much gains. Some songs sounded good while others were distorting from too much gains. The focal sport was loud as hell but not a warm amp and caused the highs to be ear piercing. The SD is loud as hell but without a dsp it cant be tuned right. The stinger is loud, warm, easy to tune and install.
Thanks for your input Gypsye. I don't get to try much stuff myself. If you ever have a hankering to try the TM400x4ad again though I found that boosting the input signal really woke mine up. It is loud as all getout now for me. It seems to be designed for speaker level inputs (RF says 12 volts) so just using regular low level inputs seems to starve it. I first tried a PAC LD-10 line driver and it did the trick. I ran the peak to peak voltage up to about 9 volts and it made a huge difference. Once I got the Arc PSM I boosted the voltage on that channel with the same good results.

I had the tm 400 at its max with the input signal and also the gains on the line leveler adjusted to give more output too. The stinger still got a bit louder though. Using a db app off my old iPhone 5 the tm got about 100-110 db. The stinger got 110-120 db at 3/4 volume. It aint much but when you set the gains to produce max db at 3/4 volume, after backing the volume off the SQ was better with the stinger.
Thanks a lot for that info Gypsye. If I ever feel the need to swap out the RF in my clutch side bag I may see if the Stinger will fit. I really like the EQ adjustments on the RF for now though. I am feeding the amp with a single signal but can tweak each set of speakers real easy as the need arises.
The ratings on that Stinger seem to be all over the place depending on what site I am on. How many watts do you think it honestly puts out in 4 channel 4 ohm mode?
The birth sheet on the one I have now is 107x4 but it doesn't state the specs. I have bought and sold several stingers and all birth sheets state 103-109x4. I wouldn't take that tm out of your bag just to buy a stinger. You wont notice the difference from the rear between the 2 and that t has the tunable eq to fine tune your rear setup. I still like that amp as I keep it on the shelf and wont sell it.
I just got word that the new SD's wont be here till April, and sadly, no i dont not have any advanced prototypes. i really wish that i did. there are some lucky folks out there if they have them now. as soon as i get the email that they are available i will post up about it.
