I know performance bike stuff, but speakers are kind of Chinese to me, so need your input on a better than stock speaker upgrade still using stock head unit.
Do 06 and under head units only allow 2ohm speaker setup (anything higher will fry)?
The budget would be no more than $150. Dont want to add any amps, has to run on stock head unit, and plug and play would make like easier.
What do you guys think of the below for a better than stock upgrade. Anything better for $150 and under and anything in particular I should note when looking for a front set?
Can you explain why it would be wasted effort? Just looking for better than stock speakers. Wouldn’t these be clearer and louder?
the previous owner of my street glide just installed infinity kappa speakers in my current street glide and it sounds great to me. I’m sure there are way better options, but anything is bette than stock, right? That’s defiantly true for motor mods for sure.
The stock head units amps just aren't that powerful on their own. bigger speakers need more power to truly perform their best. it's kinda like putting drag radials and a fart cannon on a cavalier with the normal 4 banger. kinda needs a little more under the hood to back it up. Now if your existing speakers are damaged that's a complete other issue. but you might find that if the kappa's are in there. simply adding a small amp might transform them as well.
I wouldn't be intimidated by adding an amp. one with decent line level inputs and all you need is a few wires to power and ground . tap into the existing speakers wires and add a set from the amp out to the speakers and done.
