Fill me in. Even with 100 watts to each of the 4 speakers, you don't think it would sound better?
Well let's see...you're pushing 180 watts plus to the Polks now which is way too much. 125-140 is what's needed for those if tuned correctly. Most 6x9's will need a minimum of 140 watts to perform respectable. Your amp is capable of 220 watts @ 2ohm which leaves absolutely zero headroom for your amp to work which means every time you crank up your tunes, you'll be pushing the amp to its max capacity...all the time, in turn cutting its lifespan drastically. It's your dime brother, you can wire it however you like. In theory it'll work but you won't be happy with the results.
Ok, I'm following you. So watching the Sonic Electronix amp dymo, it produced 270 at 2ohms. Obviously, I need to run less to the Fairing speakers. If I tuned it to 240 per channel, so 120 per speaker, that's still probably to taxing on the amp. Of I sold the speakers and went with something more sensitive like the Polk mm 6x9s or Hertz, could I run 100 to each speaker with reasonable results? Feel free to call me a dumb ***. This is like learning a new language.
One thing to remember, just because they got that output on the dyno doesn’t mean every amp will produce the same results. Input voltage, battery voltage, signal quality, etc all effect output of the amp. Without the proper equipment (dd1 or oscope) to see where the amp clips it’s best to stick to spec output.
Maybe I should just add a second 2 channel amp. It's $150 plus a couple of distribution blocks. Luckily(hopefully) I ran a 4 ga power and ground, so I could add on.
