Default Parallel wiring

Has anyone looked into parallel wiring two sets of 4ohm speakers to match them down to the factory 2ohm HU? Is this plausible for someone like me just wanting to see how it sounds, or would it be more trouble than what it's worth? To be specific, looking to keep everything factory except the speakers. See how the OE head unit would drive a set of the Polk MM1's? Being hopeful that it might sound enough better than the factory speakers that I may just opt to leave it at that?

Don't do that. Your motorcycle will burst into flames and burn to the ground.

Well, actually, it should work just fine. As a long time "audiophool", most guys don't realize that the stated impedance of a speaker, whether it's 2, 4, 8, or whatever, is essentially a wild-*** guess. The impedance varies, and wildly, depending on the exact frequency of the signal at that instant. The stated impedance is the "nominal" or average/estimated number, over the audio spectrum.

Now, you hook up a "2 ohm" speaker to an amp with an 8 ohm output, and crank it to 11, you're gonna be at risk. If the amp can't handle the current draw from a low impedance load, things could smoke.

Head unit will not drive those speakers with any kind of joy. The stock HU does not put out enough power and they would probably sound worse.
You need an amp or you might as well leave the stock system alone.

Ok, thank you for the feedback guys. Very good stuff to know. Now, next question? For integration sake, would it make any kind of sense to purchase the BOOM amplifiers and wiring and just use the Polk mobile monitors in the bike? I guess I'm stuck with how to proceed next. I realize now that there's no way to make those speakers sound good without amplifier(s). Just how to go about it and make it weatherproof and integrated, not lose any functionality of the BOOM system, etc. (even though the boom system already lacks a TON of functionality to begin with) but I digress... That's a dead horse. I'm not looking win an audio competition, I just want to crank some AC/DC and have it sound like my stereo has big f*ckin *****...

No no no no no no!!!!!!
Don't buy boom, it integrates with nothing.

start out with the basics.
what bike do you have?
What are your goals, i.e 2, 4, 6 speakers etc.
What is your budget.
give some of that info and there are plenty of good folks here who will help you get your pony outta the barn.
You may wanna start a new thread with a different title to catch some attention.
