It really is fascinating to see guys make recommendations to daily riders that stuffing 8s or 10s inside ur bags facing the wheel w/o lids has a significant impact on ur audio experience at 60+.
It's basic physics fellas. If u enjoy the parking lot or low speed around town then that frames up an entirely different conversation.

To each their own.

My vote is for lowers and a hard driving 6 1/2 speakers....Best sound for the solo rider....

I'm also a 100% solo rider and had lids for a couple of years. Sounded awesome when stationary, but at 65+mph down the road, the sound quickly disappeared. I then bought some speaker lowers, added some 6.5" PA's, and the sound to the rider improvement was dramatic. I promptly removed/sold my lids. At that time, my H-D was my regular tourer and I welcomed the additional saddlebag capacity. To me, the lowers vent enough to not overwhelm me with heat. Just my .02

Even at speed the lowers will benefit the passenger when riding 2up better than lids.

Yep I lose my bags at about 40-50 depending on song. The OP wanted opinions on lowers vs lids unless he’s going the 8” or 8.8 route then that’s a whole other conversation. Where will he benefit the most lowers first yes after that it’s pretty much
up in the air and personal preference. I don’t have experience with 10s so I can’t speak
for them.

Its also fascinating to see guys recommending lids specifically 6x9 saying it impacts their Audio experiences
at 60+ as well. I don’t know how many people enjoy cruising down a straight slab at 60+ for very long anyway
so for most the slower twisties is preferred where you may or may not hear anything from lids or bags depending
on ones ears.

Thanks guys. That is what I was looking for before jump in something kind of pricey … Now what speakers options do you guys think for those lower's? The 6.5 RF in my fairing sounds really good but $300 for an extra set kind of hurt. I know there's some other option out there that work really well with the RF amp.

I got my lowers off ebay painted black and ready to go. Since you have coax in the fairing, a good set of mid range will blend well with your fairing. I am running a set of hertz sv 165's as they dropped right in the lower pods, get real loud without a bunch of powe and blend well with my fairing setup.
