Hi guys! I assume there is a thread on the best hand/thumb controllers but i cannot find it. If there is one please let me know. . I have a 2012 Ultra limited and have been running the IDatalink Maestro with my sony BT71 for years. It was pretty easy to install, and has great functionality - when it works properly. After all kinds of intermittant problems I have had a run of good luck for a year or so. Now its back to its old tricks - mute button not working properly, muting on and off on its own, volume not working properly. I am going to re-flash it but that usually doesn't work. What usually works is re-seating the remote plug into the back of the head unit and/or checking all the connections. I cannot find an issue. Called IDatalink and they said maybe the button itself. I highly doubt this as i have seen these problems a dozen times before and it never was the harley stock volume button. But it could be. I will replace this unit before I replace the stock hand controls.
So I am back to the drawing board. what is the best controller. The most important function for me is volume/mute as well as skipping songs. I am sure I have read debates on the best controllers before but I do not remember if it was a dedicated thread or part of another thread.
Every issue I have ever ran across is because of the scoshe and metra hand controllers on the 13 down bikes. The new ones seem a bit better. With that being said, I switched a lot of older bikes over to the Biketronics thumb controller. I have not used their rushmore controller yet.

Yeah maybe Gann had issues with the older bikes the scosche on the newer bikes is plug and play. Just make sure you cut the white looped wire. Lol
