Have buddy that wants me to upgrade is stock front stage on his 19 Road Glide. He has a JL MX280/4 and a Rockford TM400 laying around. Just looking to put in an amp and 2 speakers. Wants to be able to hear at hwy speed with full face helmet on.
Couple questions:
1) Since it has the new HU, is the BT LL still needed/work for the new radio's?
2) Flash at all? He will NOT be adding any other speakers
3) Was thinking of using the JL MX 280 with a set of Mmats pa601cx
Yes, use the BT LL. as for the speakers the MMats are great and they are what I use in my RG fairing. You will have to modify the speakers pods to make them fit.

Perfect! Exactly what I was looking for. I haven't worked much on Road Glides. Wondering if that JL 280 will on top of headlight?
Based on wevspots feedback I'd be surprised if that combo had enough output at speed. Might try it anyway, but I think he has said the higher sensitivity speakers and higher power are better on a shark.
CS - If you start with the JL MX280 (even bridged) you'll be right back in there wishing that you had more power to play with. I'd recommend going all-in with the RF TM400 bridged (or alternatively selling both of those AMPS and grabbing a Stinger SPX700x4, Diamond Audio Micro4v2 or even NVX VADM4. If you're going to stick with 4Ohm speakers I'm a personal believer that you need more power, not less in the fairing of a Rushmore Road Glide.
I've had the following full range coax speakers installed in various builds;
Kappa 62.11i
Kappa 62.ix
Hertz MPX 165.3
DB WDX6Moto Gen 2
MMATS PA601.cx
Of those the Moto G2 and the MMATS have been my favorite.

Disclaimer since it hasnt been mentioned. The mmats will have to be mounted with the logo upside down. I only mentioned it cause it bugged the crap out of me at first, but with the RF grills I dont see it anyway.
