Default Bt 355

After buying my 2019 road glide special I have done some of investigation on pitfalls etc. on installation of a fairing only audio upgrade. Yesterday I talked at length with biketronics tech. My question for them was a simple one. For any after market amp using harley head unit on my bike can I simply use the BT355 to correct EQ curve. I was told by that Biketrinics tech that the 355 could "not" handle the correction on its own and I had to have the HU flashed to eliminate crazy harley eq curve in addition to BT355.

Begs the question why ever buy a BT355 if you have to get the flash done anyways.

I think the only way you avoid this may be to get a DSP but that is over my head at this time.

Many probably already know that this is the case but I'm just parroting Biketronics on this.

If someone thinks this tech is wrong please let me know so I can go the BT355 route.

The HD flash alone will not get you where you need to be. The HD Ultra flash, 4 speakers and 0 amps is the flattest curve that is supplied through HD, and the BT355 is geared toward using that flash.

Your dealer wants $100 to flash for an ultra? It should be under warranty. Tell them that you are thinking about adding boom stage II for the rears. I bet they flash it for nothing.

If hd won't do it, or won't come down, find an audio shop. A local one to me charges 50 bucks to flash a bike.

And with that being said, The if the locxal is a RF distributor then they can flash it so you wont need the line leveler saving you some more money.

Biketronics insinuated that the rockford flash was not enough either and I would still need a BT355.

The amp will be the Rockford TM400X4ad

So I want to understand., what some of you are saying is, If I get the ultra flash I could then just use to bt355 (which I could get for around $75 with forum discount + if I sold the bike I could take it off and re-use)

Or I could just use the Rockford flash with no leveler which they want $100 to do at RF and I would "not" need the BT355 at all.

Could a couple of you guys confirm this as this is a confusing topic (I am easily confused) and I want to avoid taking my fairing off multiple times to get all of this right.

Thanks much for info so far.
