Default Replacement System Quote

Here is a quote I got for a replacement system.

‘17 SG Boom Stage II in fairing and lids.

I’m open to suggestions. Thoughts. I’m open to tackling this myself.

Budget is $2500-$3000

You know you can beat that deal. First of all I am not a fan of arc amps as they have sloppy gain/filter adjustment screws. Second is the power/speakers post strip very easily and with all the vibration over time they loose connection. It happens all the time.

I don't see any charge for either a line leveler or flashing the hu. If you are running a stock boom hu then either you need it flashed to curve the drastic low eq from the boom or a bt355 LL. With that being said, I question the legit ability that this quote is from a shop that does boom setups all the time.

Next what 6x9's?

AD 4200 components for $700? Audio dynamics?

Fairing, lowers and lids off 1-4 channel amp? Can be done but the fairing and lowers will need to be 8 ohm and paralleled only if running off a massive tx48 or focal sport to have enough power.

Focal isc sound decent if you can keep them from blowing and don't add too much power. They wont be enough for lowers.

I use the amp wire harness off amazon for $18 and it includes speaker wire and an inline fuse with ground back to the battery.

Just a few of my thoughts.

I'm no Audio Guru by any stretch of the imagination but for that kind of scratch I could do 3 systems.
I'd listen to TG he knows what he's talking about.
There's plenty of inexpensive great speakers and amps and as long as you have some type of mechanical ability you can do the job yourself and save the extra cash you don't spend for other necessities.
But that is just my own opinion.
Best of Luck to you hope it all works out in your favor.

The quote is from the most highly recommended outfit in metro Detroit. Many here know of them and vouched for their expertise.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Nothing wrong with the cost on equipment and labor, that’s good pricing. My concern is with the pairing of equipment. I would do it drastically different.

Ok then. The quote in writing just doesn't go into detail enough to provide what will be done. Running 6 speakers off an arc 600/4 isn't something I would do. Also I would want to know just what 6x9's I am paying for. Are they going to flash the hu for that system?

Hello Sir.

Did not mean for a short response to seem snarky and caustic.

Please stay and share your expertise. I really appreciate the cool vibe here in the audio forums. So far, you guys are the only ones I feel I can trust.

That AD component is SE 4200 - ARC Audio 4 Channel 800 Watt Amplifier. Not sure why he labeled it that way.

The price includes flashing the HU.

He mentioned a handful of possibilities for the 6 x 9s in the back. I don't think these guys are going to put crap in there. We are thinking we are going to use Focals in the back as well.

He is not planning on adding a DSP. I'm open to a system that includes one.

Here are my must haves:
  • Must sound way better than my current Boom Stage II
  • No more amps in the bags.
  • Want to add speakers to the lowers.
  • Must preserve look of my bag lids. Willing to lose the auto-lock to add 6x9's.
I'd be interested what some of you guys would do with a blank slate, the above requirements, my bike, and up to 3k.

C'mon my brother, you know I wouldn't pull the trigger without getting at least a nod from you. You're one of the guys I most trust here. I'm not in a hurry, and won't be moving forward until after you are up and running in Dec.

Even if I decided to do it myself, I still would love your input.

Ok that makes more since. You can still do it a lot better for less money and do it yourself. I just didn't understand the quote as it was stated. So many come here with quotes from shops only to see hack jobs on installs with sub standard equiptment. All the regulars here just cringe when we see that and I don't want you to fall into that scenario.
