Sena 20S EVO battery replacement
Additionally, pulling the circuit board requires some delicate effort to disconnect the 16 pin circuit board to the flat helmet base connector. Looking at it disassembled, it appears the base connector needs to be removed to reinstall the 16 pin connector back into it, then put back in. Or am i looking at this wrong?.
DO NOT TRY TO REMOVE THE COVER BEFORE DOING STEP 1, IT WILL DAMAGE THE PINS ON THE 16-PIN CONNECTOR. Until you get the small 16-pin board out of the unit, you cannot further disassemble the unit.
- Very carefully and with an extremely small, thin jeweler's screwdriver or equivalent, pry out the small 16-pin "board" (see photo) This small board is held in place with non-destructive glue. This can be done without removing any screws, the ****, etc.
- Remove the 5 screws
- Pry off the volume ****
- Now the main cover can be removed
- Gently pry up and remove the circuit board
- Change the battery (requires peeling off the double-stick tape). I re-used the tape as it was still very sticky. Make sure to reattach the new battery's connector with correct polarity.
- Re-install the silicone gasket BEFORE reattaching the circuit board
- Carefully re-install the main circuit board - it has two small male/female connectors (about 1/4" wide)
- Re-install the top cover making sure the gasket remains in its correct location.
- Install the 5 screws
- Carefully re-install the 16-pin board - it is a very snug fit so I did not apply more glue - it's unlikely to fall out since it's pressed against the helmet connector when in use.. Pay attention to its orientation - it only goes one way. Make sure it is flush with the main unit. If you do use any glue, I would advise against using anything that dries - this will make removing this small board difficult if mot impossible later.
- Re-install the volume dial.
- Plug into charger to test.
It's a perfect fit
There are many ads out there for them and I'm not sure this is any better than any others - all are made in China as far as I can tell. The battery did charge. I have not tested longevity yet. Good luck!
