Default Stage II Boom Speakers

I am wanting to upgrade my sound system on my 2017 Ultra Limited from the factory installed speakers. Due to the cost of the speakers and amps is it possible to upgrade in steps? Is it possible to just buy the fairing stage II speakers first and the amp later? If so, is the wiring all compatible with out including the amp?

For reference, I am not looking for louder speakers just speakers with a little clarity while riding. I normally do not wear a helmet or ear protection, but I find wearing earplugs drowns out a lot of the wind noise and enables me to hear the music.

Appreciate the input.

Gary

I had no idea how much the boom crap went for. Read this thread, it will kick azz over a boom system. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/audio...e-cheaply.html

To answer your first question audio needs to be done together. No real gain from just speakers or just an amp. Get in and do it and get out.

Hi Gary. Posting the same thing in 2+ diff forums is a no-no.

If you go to the Welcome Area Only, on top in the sticky area are the rules. Ergo, I closed 1 of the threads.

Thanks mate.........have a good day!

The biggest issue with the boom audio is that HD didn't do us any favors. The boom has mediocre speakers and lacks power from a decent amp. They have also designed their system so it's not very compatible with aftermarket audio parts. Makes it tough to get very good results by replacing the current system in stages.
We've all been there.
I would recommend you at least add an amp and speakers.

Do you have any idea of what kind of budget you can start with?

At the minimum you will need a Biketronics BT355 line level converter.
A budget priced amp like the Stinger 700 SPX.
An amp wiring package.
And at least 1 set of speakers for the fairing.
You could hook up your factory rear speakers, but I doubt they will work very well or sound very good.
You could disconnect your rear speakers for now, and add them latter.
On a tight budget, the basics will run you around $4-500. You might be able to find some of your parts used in the for sale section.
