Default Head Unit Options?

I’m thinking seriously about pulling my GTS head unit and going aftermarket for my 2018 Road Glide Special. Sony 7000 of course is on the list to consider, but what other head units should I consider. Car Play is a must and the better it handles glare the better.

In case it matters, it will drive a DSI-2 -> 2 x SD1200.4-2 EvoX -> 1 x SD400.4 EvoX -> 4 x 8” Ground Zero Yellow Baskets -> 4 x Hertz SV 165s -> 2 x MO75T horns if it matters. Powered by a Braille G30HC.

Thank you!

Interesting idea. I honestly didn’t give the 8000 a first thought. I had been focusing on the 7000 and the Alpine IXL-W650. I assumed the 8000 was really for single DIN setups like the pre-Rushmore’s. I’ll do a little more research on it though. Anyone here put an 8000 into a Rushmore Road Glide?

Is that your ride @ridez? Your signature says that you have the Sony 5000, but I’d love to see a side profile shot and to know how you like it if it is your bike.

I might not put it quite so stronly, LMAO. But going to have to agree. I is NOT just a nice clean drop in unit. Glare is still going to bother some no matter which model you use or choose 5000, 7000, 8000. Got my longest ride in this weekend with my bike. Had my new KST Spearheads on and wanted a nice long ride. Got 6 hrs of riding in. Anyhow glare is or could be considered and issue for some. For me it is a non-issue. Once again, it was easy for me because I was coming from the worst = 4.3 boom to the AX 7000 Major difference. Take your time read, read, and watch multiple videos.

I’m only interested in the 8000 if it doesn’t look stupid and if the adjustable positions will enable it to mount more parallel to the rider like the Street Glides do and reduces glare. I use nav a lot and want to be able to see the screen for the next turn when needed.
