I had a 2nd Gen Ipod that was well over 10 years old. All of a sudden one day, I couldn't adjust volume, swipe the screen, or do ANYTHING with it. Couldn't add tunes to it from iTunes. Nothing. BUT, I could still adjust the volume via thumb controls when I had it in the bike, I could change playlists, etc but I couldn't lower the volume on the Ipod itself. (I like to set the Ipod volume to a little over 3/4 volume capacity before I hook it to the bike.)
Long story short, I bought a 6th Gen Ipod from Amazon. It works great, and adjusts volume, etc just like it's supposed to, but on almost every ride, after awhile, everything just stops, and on my bike display (2016 Limited Ultra with a 6.3) it reads "Playback Stopped." Nothing I can do. Can't unplug the cord, and then replug, can't shutdown the screen & then restart, can't push Home with my thumb, and restart from there. Nothin'. One time, for no particular reason, it just started playing again where it left off, about 20 minutes later.
Anybody ever seen or heard of this, and can help me out? Something I may not have done during setup of the new Ipod? Thanks guys.
I run my ipod throw my bike radio, it has happened to me before I just switch to FM then back to I pod and it works. Hope the weather is nice up your way going to be ridding that way later today.

Thanks touchdown. I'll try it. Kind of a pain if I have to keep doing that, but I'll try it.
Pretty cloudy & overcast up here right now, but dry so far! That's a good riding day ---- dry!
For an example ---- yesterday, Memorial Day Sunday, I fired up the bike, got the playlist I wanted, turned the volume down, and pushed the button at the bottom right of the screen, to put it on pause til I got out onto the road. Got out onto the road, and it read "Playback Stopped." Didn't work the rest of the day. Pushed Home a couple times, turned everything off a couple times & turned back on, unplugged the USB from the Ipod, and plugged back in. Nothing. Finally just turned the screen off, and just listened to the wind & my pipes all day. (Actually, that was kinda nice for a change!)
So nothing works not even the radio, I would say a short or loose wire or connection .I always use my controls from my handlebars. So maybe you may want to remove your fairing front and check your wires.
No, it was working yesterday. I turned down the volume while I was still in the garage, and then paused it. 5 or 10 minutes later it went to Playback Stopped. Sometimes it'll be fine all day. Sometimes it goes to this Playback Stopped, and that might be it for the rest of the ride, or it might start playing again. Sometimes takes 10 minutes to start again, or maybe a half hour & all is well again. I can't figure out what to do. I'm wondering If didn't do something during New Ipod Setup.
Would you happen to have another iPod cable you could try? Just a thought.
Yes, I could try that. The cord that came with the Ipod is about 3 feet long. I got another one that's about 4 or 5 inches just so I didn't have to cram the whole cord inside that door before I try to flip it down & close it. Thanks Hoyt. I'll try the longer cord again, and report back.
That was it. Thanks Hoyt. I used the longer cord that came with the Ipod. I didn't get out til 2:00 today, and rode til 7:30, and it didn't cut out once. I'll continue to use the longer cord. If I see Playback Stopped again ----- I'll cross that bridge .........
