2014 limited w/ Sony 7000 head unit, DSR1, stinger 7000 (4channel), 2 nvx vadm2s 2 MMats pa 601cx and MMats pa601.4s (all four powered by the stinger amp. Coaxials in fairing and midrange in TP pods) Two MMats neo600s in lowers being powered by one of the vadms and 2 hertz Mx 690.4s in lids powered by other vadm.
Here is where I need help from the gurus.... all settings on amps are set to full range and trying to use DSR1 for all tuning. If I run high pass on all speakers its crazy loud but horribly bright and high for lack of a better explanation. When I try to use band pass it automatically cuts the power to whatever set of speakers I use it on. I am talking 75% or more loss of volume. Im not that knowledgeable with setting crossovers and eq to start with amd the DSR1 is still a mystery to me. Ive checked and all the gains are up on the dsp and amps gains have been set by ear. What would cause the volume to lower like that when I swipe from high pass to band pass.
and whats a good starting point for setting the low crossover setting while in band pass? For the 6.5s and the 6x9s?
I am bound and determined to get an understanding of all this one day. If it doesnt kill me first. Lol thx in advance
I read everything written in this forum and I try to absorb it all but .....🤨
This is what they were originally if I remember correctly. Im not familiar with the frequency ranges all that well. And I am afraid to start typing 4 digit numbers to change HZs to KHZs. It feels like this is what is needed though. Is it?
It looks like you are only allowing sound higher than 90 and lower than 100 to go thru the filters. I would drop the high filter to 80-85 and take the low filter to 20K on the cx and 6x9's. You should have full range then. Leave it on 12db slope and try those settings on the 6.5cx's. On the 6x9's you can drop the high filter to 70 or so. If you get distortion on either then take your high filter up a tad until the distortion is gone. On the mid range speakers (601;s and neos), take the low pass to around 6K as they wont play much higher than that. I hope they all have their own channel on the dsp.

Yes each set has its own channel. I guess I was afraid to add all those zeros to the equation (Bc Ive always used high pass and frequencies of around 80-120 so I was hesitant to move away from that set range of numbers lol)
so for 20k I actually type in 20,000 in the DSR1?
thx Ill try that this morning and report back how it sounds.
the Hertz mpx 6x9s claim 130 watts RMS. How much power can I give them to make them sound their best ? Is 130 watts about right or do they like more ?
again thx for the help
here is a photo of how I have the 4 sets of speakers configured.
CH1&2. 601cx fairing
3&4 600neos lowers
5&6 601.4s TP pods
7&8 6x9s. Lids
I ran them off a vadm4 bridged and they sounded damn good.[/
so Im in a pretty good place with the vadm 2. If I can just get the crossovers set right lol
Just so u get ur arms around what's happening w those freqs in cave man terms, which I am, the high pass number u set filters out the freqs below the number u set and allows all the other freqs above that number to pass thru the filter to your speakers. The Low Pass freq that is set filters out all the freqs above the number u set allowing any freqs below that freq to get to your speakers.
U picking up what we are laying down? As indicated by the graph, u were really only targeting between 90 and 100 hz that was effectively getting to your speaker.
The slope setting of 12, 18, 24 is basically how steep u decide to filter out the freqs outside your bandpass settings. Change the slope and watch the graphic change in appearance. 12 is a good start.

I am starting to pick up what yall are putting down. And now that I have a better understanding of it I can see why the volume was cut so drastically. The way I had it set I was only allowing a very small window of frequencies to pass through at all. And the ones that were passing through werent necessarily the ones that shouldve been Im pretty sure. I just now got home from work; and I am about to start tuning based of the numbers Gypsy gave me. Ill see how they sound and then go from there. Again thanks Yall. Ill report back later tonight And let you know if I have a better handle on it now LOL thanks
I got all 8 speakers band passed now. And the volume is as it should be now also. Thx. Gypsye and Tailwind for your help. It’s finally staring to sound like I’ve been hoping for. I still have to figure out how to fine tune the eq and “Q” but I feel much better about it than I did 24 hours ago. The DSR1 will only allow me to go to 10,000 hertz on low pass though. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a way to eat to 20k somehow? If so plz explain how. Thx again y’all
