Forgetting about price, are Harley Stage 2 Amps decent quality? I know they are obscenely overpriced, but is the audio they produce decent?
I just got a 2020 Road Glide Special and am going to move on to improving audio soon. I had a twin cam RGS a few years ago and installed an amp and speakers, using those (I forget the name) devices that take speaker level and convert to line level for the amp input. It was ok, but I always felt that it was just not quite perfect. So Im thinking I might just bite the bullet and pay the six stupid bills for the S2 amp. Id find aftermarket speakers though, Polks or JL Audio marines maybe.
Just grab an SD 800.4 evox amp and a pair of the GZ coax speakers. I think you'll be really impressed with that setup. Check with Aggressive Audio on facebook for both. Great company and great prices.
You'll also need to have the HU flashed to flatten the eq signal.
To answer your original question....the Harley amp is garbage. Much better equipment available.
Thanks. Theres always better equipment, with everything you can buy... But what makes it garbage? Power output? Sound quality? Distortion? Build quality (i.e. it cooks after 6 months)? Something else other then its overpriced and says Harley Davidson on it?
Well I just read the other thread on Boom "Pros" and that provided plenty of good reasons not to go that way. So when the tank comes off to pull wires for my power vision and heater grips, I'll pull a pair of 8 gauge power cables to the fairing and be ready for what comes next...
You sure are making your "New Rig", to your liking very quick!
As of late, GZ Yellow Baskets speakers seem to be the "NEW" must have speakers. Prior to these coming out, the MMats PA601 speakers were the choice by many smarter Audio Pros here on this site. These speakers are made pretty close to you in Jupiter, FL. When I ordered my MMats this past summer, the new Ground Zero's speakers were not out yet. Or I would have ordered those.
IF your going under the hood to install a new set of speakers, the Stringer Amp SPX700x4 is a great amp for a good price. Amazon has them for $314.00. However, IF you are lucky, you might be able to get it for under $190.00 like I did a while back. You should get a DSP too to make your life easier.
The Audio game is new to me. But this site has some of the best knowledgeable folks around period! They will stare you in the right direction. But to answer your question regarding Boom.... Not work the money, and you can get much better with aftermarket and spent much less money!

Thanks! I just posted a new thread (maybe I should just stick with one for my bike...) asking about a Fosgate kit. Im a little gun-shy because back in 2016 when I was messing around with my old road glide, I followed some recommendations from this forum and went with a Cerwin Vega amp and some infinity speakers using those BT line level adapters, but was never really happy with the results. So Id like to get better results this time, but keep the spend under 1k for the two channels. After all, I have all that engine worked planned, and that comes first!
