Wife decided to buy me (us) a new bike. S, we now have the upgraded radio with Android Auto. Our last bike was a 2014 and we used the flash drive for music. Now, with the availability of Android Auto, the plan would be to use that slot for the phone and maps. So, it looks like we may lost the flash drive music ability.
What have you done to resolve/replace this? One thing I am already considering is putting my music on the SD card in my phone and playing it that way. What other options might there be?
If the Android Auto on a Harley works anything like with my Pioneer in the Mustang and Sync in the Explorer you'll plug it in using a USB cable to your phone. Some units even use a BT connection to eliminate the wire. When connected you'll have full access of your phone on the screen of the head unit. Maps or Waze depending on your preference and what ever music app you choose..
I find that when it works its great. There are always connection issues though so there is that to consider. Maybe those bugs have been worked out?
I like Android Auto and use it when ever I am driving.
I just uploaded a bunch of music and podcasts to my phone I can pull off of when offline. Then stream new music whenever I'm in data range just to mix it up. I ran my usb on the left side to open and mount my phone like this. I use a quad lock setup. Now my little storage compartment is just that. Phons didn't fit inside anyway.
Thanks for all of the responses. Special thanks to Bunk216 for the pictures. I was hopeful there was another way. Think I will insert a splitter and see if the bike accepts it.
I have loaded my flash drive music on my cell phone and perhaps I can Bluetooth that. So far, I can see the music on the phone - but, when I touch play, it only plays the first song.
Fortunately, i will have time to work on this. We live in Michigan so, riding season will start around JUNE (LOL)
Plug your phone into the usb drive, put your music on your phone and play music that way. Plugged in for android auto is the way to go. BT doesnt work for AA. That will also give you your full thumb controls as well as keep your phone charged. Then you can switch back and forth between music apps like spotify, iHeart radio, whatever....and your phone's store music. Not to mention you'll have access to other apps like google maps or waze.

Thank you Sir: I will give that a try today. Have to use my car since the bike is not home yet
